No Anglican ordinariate planned for South Africa

The South African leader of the Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC) has announced that there are no plans for a Catholic ordinariate in that country.

In South Africa, said Anglican Bishop Michael Gill, any Anglicans who choose to enter the Catholic Church must do so as individuals.

The TAC in that country has not sought for the establishment of an ordinariate.

Many tradition-minded Anglicans, especially in Africa, have resisted the movement within the TAC for incorporation into the Catholic Church.

Bishop Gill observed that Archbishop John Hepworth, the Australian head of the worldwide TAC, is “no longer supplying any spiritual leadership” to the group, since Hepworth has made it clear that he wishes to become a Catholic.
