Spiritual singing sensations The Vard Sisters are to battle it out to represent Ireland in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
The professional singing trio, Cathy, Wendy and Lisa Vard, who are
well known for their performances at weddings, have teamed up with
composer, Fr Liam Lawton.
''It would be a wonderful honour to represent Ireland, it's something we've always wanted to do,'' said Cathy Vard.
''We love spiritual music because we feel a connection with God when
we sing and that's why singing has always been very special for us.''
But while Cathy is looking forward to the ''fun and great energy''
the likes of Jedward will bring to the competition, how does she rate
their chances?
''We're very excited, Fr Lawton has written a beautiful song and it has a lovely sentiment.
''The decision is in the lap of the Gods at the minute but we can always dream,'' she laughed.
